Matthew 27: 1-50 Darkness at Calvary

v 45: “From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land”.

At his crucifixion, Jesus endured acute physical and spiritualĀ pain and the venom of his enemies. Visiting minister, Rev Alasdair Macleod, takes our communion service today and talks us through the past, present and future significance of the darkness at Calvary in light of prophecy.

Past: At the Passover, God’s people were made safe under the blood of the lamb
Present: The magnitude of your and my sin was poured out upon Jesus at the Cross so we can receive forgiveness now
Future: If we are outside Jesus the future will be eternal darkness

Why would we ignore Jesus who is the light of the world?
