This old testament story is a love story unlike modern love stories. It forms part of God’s bigger love story in bringing about a people for Himself.
Ruth’s story points us to Jesus and God’s plan of redemption: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Ruth becomes part of the lineage of David and so becomes an ancestor of Jesus.
As the story unfolds Ruth prepares herself like a bride and by her actions at the threshing floor asks Boaz to marry her. She steps out in faith and takes a big risk.
We should remember to have faith in God for our future too. Sometimes we forget who is in charge and directing everything.
