Loving God, his people and our community

Mark 6:1-29 Who is Jesus and what difference does He make to me?

On Sunday mornings we are going through the book of Mark. Last time we saw many of people coming to faith. This time we see stories of what happens when there is no faith.

In the National Gallery of Scotland houses works of art worth millions of pounds. If you don’t understand art, you might not appreciate them. When we look at Jesus we see people who reject him and say that he is nothing to them because they don’t understand. Society understands Him like this today but that doesn’t change who He is and what he came to do.

In this passage, Jesus goes back to Nazareth – he is known as Jesus of Nazareth. He is remembered by some of the people of that town and they are amazed by what he says and does but they think surely he’s not that important? They don’t see anything special but take offence and despise Him. We should beware of this attitude.
